There's a little song the Beatles sing

21 September 2008

My breakfasts here are usually pretty much the same from day to day, with slight variations each week. I started out with two mini croissants and a cup of tea the first week I was here, but by the end of the week had discovered the yogurt (and pudding) in the fridge and swapped a croissant out for it. Last week my surprise breakfast pastry was some sort of sweet bread topped with a light, orange-flavored glaze. Pretty delicious. Today at breakfast, the magdalenas showed up to take the place of the sweet bread. The best description I can come up with for a magdalena is that it's a slightly lemony cupcake without frosting. Needless to say, I'm quite intrigued to see what sort of dessert-disguised-as-breakfast they give me next. They also have a juicer and man oh man am I excited for when oranges are in season!

In other news, today is my Grandmother's 85th birthday. Happy birthday, Grandma! I don't know how long it takes mail to get from here to there, but there's a card with your name on it out there somewhere.
