I'm finishing up my 3rd weekend with my host parents, and I think I can confidently say that Sunday is a paella day. I'm a pretty big fan of Sundays.
I will not be taking Gastronomy and Wine in Mediterranean Culture after all. But can you believe a class with a name like that takes zero fieldtrips to experience gastronomy and wine first hand in Mediterranean culture? Preposterous!
In case you ever sit down in a cafe in Spain for some ice cream and order a "blanco y negro," you should be aware that you will not be getting a chocolate and vanilla ice cream sundae. You will instead be getting a scoop of vanilla ice cream in a cup of café granizado (coffee slushee). You might be incredibly surprised at first, and maybe a litle disappointed since you really just wanted some chocolate and vanilla ice cream and didn't want to be awake until all hours of the morning. And then you'll realize that it's absolutely delicious.
It's too bad this wasn't all very crucial information, because then it would have been three items of astronomical importance as well as of gastronomical importance, and who doesn't like rhyming?
